Marco Macchia

Marco Macchia (Rome, 1975) is tenured assistant professor of Administrative Law at University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, where he teaches also Public Law and Economic Public Law. He is also adjunct professor of Administrative Law and of Public Law at Faculty of Economics, University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.
He got a law degree with honours (1998) and a phd (doctorate) in Administrative Law (2007) from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He got also a Master in Administrative Law from the Scuola superiore dell’economia e delle finanze (SSEF, 2004). He has been Jemolo Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford University (Trinity Term, 2006) and he spent also periods of research at Oxford University (2005, 2008), at Max Planck Institut für Ausländisches öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht di Heidelberg (2009).
He collaborated in the European research group on “The evolution of a polycentric administrative space,” within the Connex Network (“Connecting Excellence on European Governance”), under the supervision of the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (Mzes), Germany (2005-2008). He worked at Legislation Office, Guardia di Finanza (Italian Military Police, 2000) and he has been advisor of the Consob (Commissione nazionale per le Società e la Borsa, it is the public authority responsible for regulating the Italian securities market, 2002-2003).
He is member of the board of Centro Interdipartimentale per gli Studi sulla Pubblica Amministrazione (CISPA, since 2008), of the Istituto per le ricerche sulle pubbliche amministrazioni – Irpa (since 2008), and partner of the Astrid (Associazione per gli studi e le ricerche sulla riforma delle istituzioni democratiche e sull’innovazione nelle amministrazioni pubbliche, since 2006). He is barrister (since 2002).
He collaborated in the editorial staff of the reviews: Il giornale di diritto amministrativo, Rivista trimestrale di diritto pubblico, Munus. Rivista giuridica sui servizi pubblici. He teaches at Scuola Ufficiali Carabinieri, Scuola di Polizia Tributaria.
He is author of a book Legalità amministrativa e violazione dei diritti non statali (Milano, Giuffré, 2012). He is co-editor of Global Administrative Law: The Casebook (New York, IILJ, 2012). He has also written essays and articles on topics related to administrative reforms, administrative law, law compliance, European and global administrative law.
