Marco Pacini (1975) is manager at the Bank of Italy, Coordinator at the Judiciary Support Unit. He is IRPA fellow (since 2010).
After graduating in Law cum laude in 1999 from Pisa University, he obtained a Ph.D. in Governance and Functioning of Public Administrations from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (2003) under the supervision of Professor Sabino Cassese. He served as stagiaire at the European Court on Human Rights in Strasbourg (2002).
He was employed at the Anti-money laundering Department of the Ufficio Italiano dei Cambi (2002). He was then seconded to the Prime Minister Office (2007-2008). Afterwards he served at the Italian Financial Intelligence Unit (2008).
He wrote a book on Human Rights and Public Administration as well as essays on money laundering counteraction, European banking supervision and the Mediterranean economic and financial area. He authored many articles on human rights, including on universal jurisdiction, non-discrimination, access to a court, religious symbols. He was responsible for the quarterly survey of the case-law of the European Court on Human Rights.
